Man Helps Disabled Fan of Opposing Team Stand for National Anthem at NFL Game

Share

The rivalry of a football game can bring out some fierce competition between fans. But sometimes, it can also bring out the best in people, even if they don’t see eye to eye about their favorite team.

Fans can come to blows over a bad call or an unfair advantage. There is always some playful banter between fans at most games, and sometimes it gets out of control.

But when the New Orleans Saints played the New York Giants Sunday, an act of kindness occurred between fans of the opposing teams.

As the game opened with the national anthem, one New Orleans fan reached out to help a fan cheering for the Giants.

The Saints fan realized the Giants fan seated in front of him was disabled, and decided to help him stand for the National Anthem.

Have you witnessed a random act of kindness?

The Saints fan held the Giants fan for the entire length of the National Anthem making sure he did not fall or waver as the song played.

Clad in difference sports apparel, these men showed that despite their differences, compassion and understanding were more important.

They stood at attention and paid their respect to the country by standing together as the entire national anthem played on.

It was all caught on camera as photographer Michael DeMocker captured perhaps the single best moment of the Saints-Giants game that day.

The photo was posted on Twitter and has received more than 20,000 likes and was shared over 13,000 times.

The Saints won that day, both on the field and in the kind gesture of their very own fans.
