New York Giants safety Kamrin Moore has been arrested and charged with third-degree aggravated assault in an alleged domestic violence incident Thursday in Linden, New Jersey.

Moore, 22, allegedly punched a woman and knocked her unconscious after stepping on her neck, according to NJ Advance Media, which obtained the criminal complaint filed by the Union County Prosecutor’s Office.

“Moore is accused of placing his foot on the unidentified woman’s neck and applying pressure during an incident outside of his home on Thursday night, according to Linden police,” the report said.

“After she got to her feet, the woman told police she began yelling at Moore and pushed him, and he responded by punching her in the face with a closed fist and causing her to lose consciousness, according to the report,” NJ Advance Media said.

The woman was taken to Rahway Hospital with injuries to her neck and face, the report said.

The Giants suspended Moore upon learning of the charges.

“New York Giants safety Kamrin Moore was arrested over the weekend in Linden, New Jersey, for an alleged domestic violence-related incident,” the organization said Monday on Twitter. “Moore has been suspended by the team pending further investigation.”

The New Orleans Saints selected Moore in the sixth round of the 2018 draft out of Boston College. He was released by the Saints and picked up by the Giants before the season began.

He only appeared in two games last year for the Giants.

Moore was competing to be a backup safety. He was listed second on the depth chart at strong safety prior to his suspension.

The woman had been dating Moore, NJ Advance Media reported, citing the complaint:

“The woman said she sent Moore multiple text messages on Thursday night but did not get a reply, so she went to his residence, and a woman approached her vehicle, the affidavit states. A fight between the two women broke out, and Moore is accused of watching as they assaulted each other until the complainant fell to the ground and he became physical, the report said.”

The news outlet said police were not called to the scene. The woman went to the police department Saturday night to file the complaint.

Moore appeared in Linden Superior Court on Monday afternoon, NJ Advance Media reported.

Moore’s agent, Eugene Lee with MBK Sports Management, called the charges “baseless” and urged the public and media not to pass judgment until there’s been due process.

“We remain confident that when the truth is revealed, Mr. Moore will be exonerated and vindicated completely of these baseless charges,” Lee said in a news release.

Moore has retained attorney Alex Spiro of Quinn Emmanuel and James Abate to handle his defense.

He could be subject to discipline by the NFL under its personal conduct policy even if he is acquitted in the case.
