Where Was the Outrage When Bernie Compared Baltimore Neighborhoods to Third World Slums?

Share

When President Donald Trump says or tweets something, it’s “racist” and tantamount to the sky falling. When a Democrat does the same thing, it’s acceptable — not a problem.

Got that? It’s the modus operandi of leftists and Democrats.

It’s beyond hypocritical but also intentional and won’t stop unless Trump is defeated in 2020. They’ve admitted as much; it isn’t our imagination.

For the most recent example, look at the uproar involving Baltimore — specifically, Rep. Elijah Cummings’ 7th Congressional District in Maryland.

Last week, Trump tweeted controversial criticisms of Cummings and dilapidated neighborhoods in Baltimore.

Right on cure, many expressed outrage and called the president a “racist” (again).

Do you think Democrats and the media are hypocritical about race?

Enter Bernie Sanders, the Democratic presidential candidate and Vermont senator who in 2015 referred to a Baltimore neighborhood — in Cummings’ district — as a “Third World country.”

“We’re talking about a community in which there are hundreds of buildings that are uninhabitable,” he said.

Per his nature, Trump didn’t hesitate to share those previously mothballed, long-forgotten comments with the world of social media.

Sanders isn’t the only one who ripped Baltimore communities prior to Trump’s tweets. Last year, then-Mayor Catherine Pugh bad-mouthed one neighborhood, resorting to profanity in the process.

Apparently, Pugh’s disparaging and vulgar comments weren’t scrutinized or condemned because she’s a black Democrat. Her statements, just like anything said by former President Barack Obama, were automatically viewed as suitable and factual.

If Trump is racist for stating facts about Cumming’s district, what to make of Ben Carson — our nation’s black Housing and Urban Development secretary — echoing the president’s observations?

But then, Democrats aren’t known for anything if not being hypocrites with double standards.

Once again, Trump’s trolling via Twitter has paid off: Leftists and the mainstream media rushed to defend Cummings’ ineptitude and a godforsaken community. This scenario is not unlike Democrats’ and media’s recent knee-jerk reaction to support the radical, distaff Democratic “squad” comprising Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ayanna Pressley, Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar.

The host of “The Larry O’Connor Show” was among those on social media who picked up on the commander in chief’s strategy.

Indeed, what’s being lost on Cummings is that he was played like a Steinway — which is ironic, given that he is chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Reform.

It’s the same old Democratic parlor game: When your back is against the wall, simply shuffle race cards into the deck. Between now and the 2020 election, cries of “Trump is racist!” will pollute the airwaves — while leftists who are documented as sharing his views get a free pass.

Selective and faux outrage is the order of the day. Feel the Bern, for better or worse.
