Police respond after Jim Harbaugh's life is apparently threatened

Share

Several disturbing tweets were sent out Monday night from what purportedly is the account of former Michigan linebacker Elysee Mbem-Bosse, and the cryptic messages appeared to threaten gun violence against Wolverines football coach Jim Harbaugh.

MLive reported Tuesday that campus police confirmed they were investigating the tweets.

The Mbem-Bosse Twitter account — which uses the handle “Need nobody but God” — has since been set to private and the tweets have been deleted, but Reddit CFB shared screen shots of them.

“Michigan is open carry. Let’s not forget,” one tweet said.

“They sent someone to my crib before. I was nice enough to call the cops next time I’m calling the morgue,” it said.

“Let’s not have a murder case on your hands,” said another tweet.

One that appeared to be directed at Harbaugh said the author was “suspended for going to take care of my family. You f—ing” clown.

Sports Illustrated said there is no record of Mbem-Bosse ever being suspended.

However, the 20-year-old isn’t listed on the Wolverines’ roster this spring, and a post on the Michigan football site Touch the Banner about the 2018 scholarship count listed him as having been “removed.”

Mbem-Bosse attended Cedar Grove High School in Georgia and was rated the No. 15 inside linebacker prospect in the country by Rivals.com.

He received offers from many of the nation’s top programs, including Alabama, Auburn and Oklahoma, but decided to sign with Michigan.

The 6-foot-3, 215-pound Mbem-Bosse saw limited action at linebacker and on special teams for the Wolverines as a freshman and sophomore.

Neither Harbaugh nor the university had commented on the tweets as of Tuesday afternoon.
