Trump Gives Impassioned Speech on What a Vote for Kavanaugh Would Really Do

Share

At a high-energy rally in West Virginia on Saturday night, President Donald Trump blasted Democrats for their unfair treatment of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

Kavanaugh has been embroiled in a controversy surrounding an accusation made by California professor Christine Ford, who claims that Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her over 35 years ago.

The controversy reached a climax on Thursday, where both Kavanaugh and Ford were able to speak on the allegations in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

At the hearing, Kavanaugh gave a convincing and emotional denial of Ford’s allegations and offered his own criticism of the left.

“When I did at least OK enough at the hearings that it looked like I might actually get confirmed, a new tactic was needed. Some of you were lying in wait and had it ready,” Kavanaugh said in his opening statement, referring to Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s handling of Ford’s allegation.

“This first allegation was held in secret for weeks by a Democratic member of this committee and by staff. It would be needed only if you couldn’t take me out on the merits,” Kavanaugh said.

Speaking to a crowd in Wheeling, Trump reiterated his support for Kavanaugh and echoed Kavanaugh’s harsh but fair criticism of the left.

“A vote for Judge Kavanaugh is also a vote to reject the ruthless and outrageous tactics of the Democrat Party,” Trump told the crowd.

Is President Trump right about what Kavanaugh's confirmation would mean?

Trump is right. If Republicans in the Senate confirm Kavanaugh, that would be a huge win for the GOP, but there would be a bigger win for the country.

The Senate’s confirmation of Kavanaugh would show Democrats and voters that resorting to smears based on unsubstantiated accusations of sexual assault is not how you win political battles.

The fact that there is even going to be an FBI investigation into the claims already shows how ridiculous politics have become, and the Democrats are the ones who brought us to this level.

It couldn’t be any more obvious that the left is turning the confirmation process into a soap opera because by all other metrics, Kavanaugh is an unquestionably qualified candidate.

“A vote to confirm Judge Kavanaugh is a vote to confirm one of the most accomplished legal minds of our time, a jurist with a sterling record of public service,” Trump said at the rally.

As usual, Trump is right here again. Kavanaugh has received the highest possible rating from the American Bar Association.

If the Senate votes to confirm Kavanaugh, it would devastate the left and they would have to find new tactics instead of running smear campaigns.

So, a vote for Kavanaugh would improve American politics in the long run, too.
