Zoe Saldaña Beams At 'The Avatar: The Way Of Water' Premiere In London
Actress Zoe Saldaña attended the world premiere of James Cameron´s new film ‘The Avatar: The Way of Water’ on Tuesday, December 6 in London’s Leicester Square. Saldaña, who plays the role of Neytiri looked walked the red carpet with her husband Marco Perego.
Saldaña who is perhaps best known for her portrayal of Nina Simone in the 2016 biopic about the singer’s life is also increasingly known for her work in science fiction films. She has previously appeared in “Star Treak” and the “Guardians of The Galaxy” as well as the original Avatar. Indeed she appeared in three of the five top-earning movies of all time ( the first “Avatar” and two “Avengers” movies)
“Avatar: The Way of Wat” is set more than a decade after the events of the first film “Avatar”. The 2009 film was praised for its groundbreaking visuals. The new film centers on the Sully family and the trouble that follows them, the various adventures they undertake and the battles they fight to stay alive and the tragedies they endure as they strive to protect their home on Pandora.
Long associated with the “Guardians of the Galaxy” films Saldaña, has recently revealed she feels stuck in the role. Converesly Saldaña has committed to film more “Avatar” films and is expected to appear in subsequent “Star Trek” films in which she plays the iconoclastic Lieutenant Uhura.
Attendees of the London World Premiere included cast members Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Kate Winslet, Joel David Moore, Jamie Flatters, Trinity Jo-Li Bliss, Jack Champion,Brendan Cowell,Bailey Bass,director/producer/writer/editor James Cameron and producer Jon Landau.
The film opens in theaters on Friday, December 16.
