Chip Gaines Fights Back Tears When He Finds Notes of Support from His Kids

Share

It’s any parent’s dream to not only support their children but to raise supportive and kind kids.

This is true whether it is the everyday parent or a couple the whole world knows and watches such as Chip and Joanna Gaines, the stars of HGTV’s “Fixer Upper.”

The home makeover duo has been busy the past couple years getting their show up and running, as well as opening other small businesses down in Waco that has made them the ever-popular stars they deserve to be.

And of course, they did all of this while raising their four children: Drake, 12; Ella, 11; Duke, 9; and Emmie Kay, 7.

Though a recent announcement saw the couple admitting season 5 will be their last, the couple has been no stranger to keeping their fans updated through social media, especially when it comes to their four children and their daily adventures.

It was on Instagram just last week that Chip announced he would be competing in his first ever race — a marathon in Waco, Texas, on May 6. In classic Chip style, however, he admitted that he has no idea what to expect, but will be going for it anyway.

“It’s time to tie up our laces, hit the trails, & start training for the Silo District Marathon—my first race ever!” Chip wrote.

“I have no idea how this is going to shake out, but I do know you can’t run a marathon unless you get started.”

However, that getting started means a lot of motivation, even through the unknown. And it seems Chip will have a whole host of support — starting with his four kids at home.

In support of their hard-working dad, all four kiddos decided to write notes of encouragement to help Chip with the strenuous training. It was a collection of notes the proud dad couldn’t help but share with his fans.

The supportive notes were also accompanied by some thoughtful — slightly humorous — snacks to help him through the process. The thought of all the support and not having to go through this alone made the father of four “teary eyed.”

Both Chip and Joanna announced their wrap-up to “Fixer Upper” last Fall, where Chip announced the expectation of a fifth Gaines member via social media after much anticipation from fans.

“Hint #3 You might recall a few months back … the ever amazing, ever romantic @JOHNNYSWIM was in Waco,” wrote Chip on Instagram.

“And they put on a little too romantic of a concert … anyways, one thing led to another, & we are officially pregnant. And I could not be more EXCITED! #5 #7ThePerfectNumber.”

The couple added that their surprising decision for ending the successful show was mainly motivated due to their kids.

“The kids were so young when we started,” they said. “Fast-forward to today and our oldest is almost a teenager — they’re all growing up so quickly.”
