CNN Contributor Goes to UN, Calls for Destruction of Israel to Bring 'Justice' to Palestine

If you thought things said and done by CNN’s Jim Acosta and Chris Cuomo couldn’t possibly be topped, well, apparently Marc Lamont Hill has told them to hold his beer, as the social media quip goes. His big jaw-dropping moment came during a U.N. commemoration speech he was gave.

The event was the United Nations commemoration of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People. The Daily Caller noted that it also was the 70th anniversary of the “Universal Declaration of Human Rights and of the Palestinian Nakba.”

Rather than simply honor Palestine, though, Hill made full use of the occasion to bash Israel. And he didn’t stop there.

In his remarks, he also called for the eradication of Israel. He did so when he used the line “from the river to the sea.”

The phrase is a slogan and Palestinian rallying cry regarding the boundaries that should be used in relation to the Palestinian state versus Israel. It means wiping out Israel so all the land “from the river to the sea” is Palestine.

Here is the relevant portion of Hill’s remarks, as reported by Arutz Sheva. “Contrary to western mythology, black resistance to American apartheid was not” purely nonviolent.

“Tactics otherwise divergent from Dr. King or Gandhi were equally important to preserving safety and attaining freedom. If we are in true solidarity, we must allow them the same range of opportunity and political possibility.”

“We must recognize the right of an occupied people to defend themselves. We must prioritize peace, but we must not romanticize or fetishize it.”

“We must promote non violence at every opportunity, but cannot endorse narrow politics that shames Palestinians for resisting, for refusing to do nothing in ethnic cleansing. Justice requires a ‘Free Palestine from the River to the Sea.'”

Should Marc Lamont Hill apologize for his remarks?

Director of the Touro Institute on Human Rights and the Holocaust and President of Human Rights Voices Anne Bayefsky was at the event and was appalled by what Hill said, as well as the audience reaction to it.

She told Arutz Sheva, “I have been watching the UN’s so-called Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People for decades and this was an especially obscene UN moment that reveals the true nature of the anti-Israel and anti-Jewish animus of the modern United Nations. CNN commentator and Temple University professor Marc Lamont Hill’s call at the United Nations for the destruction of the Jewish state was not some accident.”

“He didn’t misspeak. He was an invited guest. He was the only person invited to speak as ‘the’ representative of ‘civil society.'”

“When he ended his extraordinary tirade with ‘Give us a free Palestine from the river to the sea’ his words were met by a round of applause. The only applause for any speaker.”

She also noted that to add insult to injury, “The host and Chair of the ‘UN Committee for the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People,’ Senegalese Ambassador Cheikh Niang, thanked him profusely for his ‘elegant words’ & ‘hailed civil society organizations.'” She added that she saw “no excuses” for such a thing to be ‘tolerated, supported or financed by democratic nations.’

Given the anti-semitism of his speech, is it likely that CNN will suspend Hill or make him apologize? There are those who do not believe that is likely.

This could be believed, at least in part, due to the fact that Hill has shared similar sentiments previously. His U.N. speech was not the first time he pulled out the apartheid label in regards to Israel and Palestine.

That was back in July. Despite noted criticism at the time, he doubled down and continued to work as a contributor for CNN.

For all the talk by media and the left of how President Donald Trump and conservatives are the anti-Semites, once again there is proof that the opposite is true. Once again we see the left doing the very thing they are accusing others of doing.
