While the Left Steals the Spotlight, Unemployment Hits 49-Year Low

Share

American workers can look forward to good news tomorrow.

While the left has been preoccupied with the tedious, obnoxious protests at the Senate hearings on the confirmation of Judge Brett Kavanuagh to the Supreme Court, President Donald Trump has been busy staying true to his promise to increase the number of jobs available for American workers.

According to The Hill, last week the number of American workers filing for unemployment marked a 49-year low.

Thursday’s figures, coming ahead of Friday’s main jobs report released by the Labor Department, show that employment continued to grow in late August, despite the fact that unemployment claims usually increase during holidays like Labor Day.

In the week ending on Sept. 1, initial claims for state unemployment decreased by 10,000 from the prior week, falling to a seasonally adjusted 203,000.

The Labor Department stated that this was the lowest level since December of 1969 — when Richard Nixon was president of the United States.

The four-week moving average of initial claims, which gives a steadier view of the statistics, was also at the lowest level since December 1969, coming in at 209,500. This average gives a broader indication of what the job market will continue to do over the short term.

Trump has done his share to help businesses with the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.

The act lowered the federal corporate tax rate to 21 percent. That dropped the combined federal and state U.S corporate tax burden from its whopping previous rate of almost 40 percent, which had been the highest rate in the developed world.

Do you think Trump will continue to improve the economy?

Employers are able to retain more employees as well as hire additional workers as economic opportunities spring up.

In other good news, the economy grew at a hefty 4.2 percent pace in the quarter spanning April to June.

The Hill also noted an anticipated report of 200,000 jobs created just last month.

While the average American has been enjoying the return to work, the left has been keeping its attention on protesters at the Kavanaugh hearings.

That’s not to say all these protesters were playing hooky from work in order to scare Kavanaugh’s young daughters out of the hearing. No, don’t worry.  These are upstanding, hard-working citizens we’re talking about.

For some of them, this was an “honest” day’s labor, as reports of protesters being reimbursed for their chaos-inducing efforts have surfaced.

Fortunately for us less anarchic folks, we’ll enjoy more work opportunities as well.
