'Pro-Jesus' Chris Pratt Has a Message for Hollywood: 'I'm Not Going To Change'
When someone in Hollywood speaks up for religion or shares their Christian faith, people tend to take notice. This is because it has become so rare to see nowadays.
Action star Chris Pratt has taken to sharing messages related to his faith publicly. And he doesn’t seem to be worried about what the rest of Hollywood thinks about that.
During an interview with The Associated Press, he was asked, “At recent awards show appearances, you went out on stage and talked publicly about your faith. Is it an especially important time to do that?”

Pratt answered, “I don’t know that I am so much more motivated by where the world is or if it’s just what I’m feeling called to do right now. I think it’s a combination of both things… That kind of a message, it might not be for everybody. But there is a group of people for whom that message is designed.
“And nothing fills my soul more than to think that maybe some kid watching that would say, ‘Hey, I’ve been thinking about that. I’ve been thinking about praying. Let me try that out.’”

He continued, “That’s like the only way I feel like I can repay what has essentially been a giant gift in my life.”
Then Pratt was asked if he thinks doing such a thing is risky to do in Hollywood. His answer to that may seem shocking to many, given what seems to be observed so often.
“No, not at all,” he said. “I think that there’s this narrative that exists out there that Hollywood is anti-Christian or anti-religious, but it’s just not the case. They are kind of not anti-anything. They are kind of pro whatever is authentic to you. And I like that. Because it’s authentic for me to be pro-Christian, pro-Jesus.
“That’s my thing. I like it. And I’ve never had anyone try to shame me, to my face.”
He then made it clear that if some kind of bias against him and his faith exists, it’s just too bad for those who have it. He is going to keep being exactly who he is.
“Maybe they go say it behind my back. But if that’s the case, go ahead. You can say whatever you want about me – to my face or behind my back. I’m not going to change.”
He’s even shared his faith on social media, sometimes tweeting out bible verses. Those tweets generate thousands of likes, comments and retweets:

In a Jan. 2017 interview with Vanity Fair, Pratt shared how he became a Christian and changed his life. It was while he was living in a van in Hawaii, working as a waiter. While waiting for an older friend to buy alcohol for him because he was too young to do so, a man named Henry approached him and started asking him about his life.
Pratt told him that drugs, alcohol, and more were hopefully all part of it. Pratt recalled, “It should’ve made me nervous but didn’t.”
“I said, ‘Why are you asking?’ He said, ‘Jesus told me to talk to you…’ At that moment I was like, I think I have to go with this guy.
“He took me to church. Over the next few days I surprised my friends by declaring that I was going to change my life.”
Pratt concluded his story by sharing that “his path has been clear ever since.” He now lives that clarity by sharing his faith with others boldly and when the opportunity arises, even when it’s a moment that is supposed to be about honoring him.
Pratt accepts his accolades but doesn’t stop there. He praises God, too. Unabashedly.
