Trump Jr. Calls Out CNN Ratings Drop with Hilarious Pic

Share

CNN hasn’t been doing great in the ratings as of late, which is surprising considering how riveting Don Lemon rants are.

“CNN ranked No. 6 across basic cable in total prime time viewers, and No. 5 in total day this past week. Despite the top 10 finishes, the network was -36 percent in prime time viewers, and -41 percent in total day viewers vs. the same week last year,” Adweek reported.

Now, granted, last year was Hurricane Irma coverage, and Adweek noted that “breaking news stories tend to give CNN a bigger ratings boost than what Fox News or MSNBC traditionally get.”

However, a 41 percent drop is a pretty significant one, and that wasn’t all. It got beaten in the daytime by both Fox News and MSNBC. There were plenty of “breaking stories” last week, and if people normally tune in to CNN for that, they certainly weren’t doing it now.

This was all something that Donald Trump Jr. was pretty happy about — especially given the White House’s battles with CNN.

And, given that bad weather has dominated this week’s coverage, Trump Jr. figured he’d give a little bit of a callback to one moment where CNN appeared to be trying to make things look a lot worse than they were.

You know, as they’re prone to doing with the administration:

Man, Anderson Cooper must be really short.

Do you watch CNN?

Like pretty much every other tweet from Trump Jr., this triggered liberaldom in a huge (or yuge) way:

Ah yes, that indictment that’s been around the corner since the moment that Donald Trump was inaugurated.

The fact is that Americans have been turning away from CNN as a product for quite some time now. This is a news network in one of the fastest-moving news times in our nation’s history that’s been repeatedly losing to HGTV. And yes, I know people inexplicably love seeing home renovations edited to look as painless and adventurous as possible, but that still doesn’t explain the fact that their ratings have consistently been down this year in a news-heavy environment.

If Irma was what boosted their ratings, perhaps they ought to hope for more hurricanes. Then again, given that they would probably produce more telling photos like this one, maybe they ought not to.
