George Clooney Reveals His 1st Thoughts about Future Wife Amal
Navigating the dating world can be extremely difficult. It’s often hard to gauge if the other person is really interested in you.
Sometimes, you don’t even know when you’re on a date. Your friend will bring someone by, and at some point, it crosses your mind: “Wait, are we being set up?”
Apparently, being one of the most desirable bachelors on the planet doesn’t change this process very much.
George Clooney recently spoke with David Letterman about meeting his wife for the first time on the Letterman’s Netflix show, “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction.”
Clooney was at his house near Lake Como in Italy when he got a call from a friend.
That friend was with Amal, and wanted to stop by. Clooney didn’t know anything else about her.
“A mutual friend of ours said, ‘I’m stopping by and can I bring my friend?’ ” Clooney told Letterman. “And I was like, ‘Of course!’
“I got a call from my agent who said, ‘I met this woman who is coming to your house, who you’re going to marry,’” he recalled. “It really worked out that way.”
Despite the call from his agent, Clooney had a hard time figuring out if he and Amal had a connection. Like anyone in the dating world, he wondered if the attraction was mutual.
“The funniest thing was my mom and dad were visiting so my parents were there. And we just talked, we stayed up all night talking,” Clooney said.
“And I got her email address because she was going to send me some pictures of my parents. So we started writing. I didn’t know if she wanted to go out with me — I just thought we were buddies.”
Eventually, the reality of the situation became set in, as Clooney explained to the Hollywood Reporter.
“Over a period of time it became clear we were more than just friends,” he said. Their first date was when he invited her to visit him in London on set for “Monuments Men,” and he said, “That was a good first date.”
And the rest is history. The couple married in 2014 and welcomed twins into the world last year.
Although Clooney’s love story is something to which many of us can relate, we can’t forget one important fact.
The star didn’t even have to leave his home to meet his future wife.
