Google's Claim of 'No Notion of Political Ideology' Crumbles After Internal 'Nazi' List Leaks


A breaking report Tuesday from Project Veritas reveals a leaked document that appears to show a Google employee labeling Dennis Prager, Ben Shapiro and Jordan Peterson as “nazis.”

The document, an email sent in a thread among members of a transparency and ethics group from inside Google, recommends that content from the three men be disabled from the “suggestion feature.”

Earlier this week, Project Veritas caught Jen Gennai, head of responsible innovation at Google, admitting that Google is training the Google algorithm to make sure President Donald Trump loses the 2020 election.

After the Project Veritas bombshell video went viral, Gennai insisted in a post on Medium that “Google has repeatedly been clear that it works to be a trustworthy source of information, without regard to political viewpoint. In fact, Google has no notion of political ideology in its rankings.”

Although Gennai claims her remarks in Veritas’ video were in reference to stopping foreign interference in elections, her claim that Google has “no notion of political ideology in its rankings” appears to be squarely refuted by the leaked document above.

While white supremacy is abhorrent and vile, Shapiro, Prager and Peterson have never advocated that cause. But that doesn’t stop the insiders at Google from treating them as if they are evil incarnate.

Shapiro, a vocal opponent of white supremacy, often is labeled as such because the left would rather throw labels around than deal with a cogent argument.

The leaked email perfectly illustrates the left’s inability or unwillingness to engage with conservative ideas and commentators like Prager and Shapiro. Liam Hopkins, the Google employee who wrote the email, asserted, “Today it is often 1 or 2 steps to nazis. If we understand the PragerU, Jordan Peterson, Ben Shapiro et al are nazis using the dog whistles you mention in step 1.”

There, in a blanket unsubstantiated statement, is the supposedly fair, neutral and unbiased Google claiming that Shapiro, Prager and Peterson are Nazis who are using secret signals to communicate with their sick Nazi comrades.

Hopkins then suggested a solution to make sure Google users see less and less of this kind of content.

“I can receive these recommendations regardless of the content of what I’m looking at and I have recorded thousands of internet users sharing the same experience,” he said. “I don’t think correctly identifying the far right content is beyond our capabilities. But if it is, why not go with Meridith’s suggestion of disabling the suggestions feature? This could be a significant step in terms of user trust.”

I have a better suggestion. Just tell the truth, Google.

Are you worried that Google's bias against conservatives will affect the 2020 election?

If you are going to hide, ban, censor and demote content because you don’t like, say, Dennis Prager talking about communism or the death penalty, then just admit you are a publisher that hates conservative content. I get it. Vox, Mother Jones and Axios don’t seem to have a problem admitting it.

If you truly hate it that Shapiro might appear in your search results with such appalling topics as his analysis of Robert Mueller’s resignation or his rejection of anti-Semitism, then just come on out into the light with your preferences.

You can keep putting out stupid press releases and appearing on friendly news shows and publishing your carefully crafted Op-Eds that all say the same thing as Gennai — that “Google has no notion of political ideology in its rankings.”

But you are just embarrassing yourself, Google.

No one believes you any more.
