Mini Horse Skin and Bones When Rescued, Finds Comfort Thanks to Golden Retriever

Share

A horse and a dog may seem an unlikely pair, but these two animals have found a special kind of bond.

Sally, a miniature horse, was skin and bones when she was brought to Carolina Equine Rescue & Assistance for safety. She was scared and lonely until she found a companion in Molly, a golden retriever.

Molly began to comfort Sally, and the two formed a strong friendship. The two animals don’t seem to notice that they are not from the same species. They even love to give each other kisses.

Molly has always gotten along well with the other rescue horses. But she has found a sweet affinity for Sally.

Do you think a horse and a dog make an unlikely pair?

Sally’s new owner, Darlene Kindle, works at the rescue farm in North Carolina, saving abused and abandoned horses.

Kindle told CBS News that Sally was “nothing but skin and bones and scared” when she arrived at the farm.

When Molly met Sally, she knew the mini horse needed comforting, and she was up to the task. The two have been inseparable since.

“Molly truly has an exceptional sense of knowing when one of the animals doesn’t feel good or sad,” Kindle wrote on Facebook.

The two friends are considered an odd couple. Regardless, they have found that special bond to care for each other when Sally needed it the most.

This story of friendship between two animals has warmed the hearts of people across the country. It shows that despite their differences, even a horse and a dog can be friends.

Of course, this isn’t the only instance of a strange animal friendship making the news.

If you think a mini horse and dog make a strange couple, take a look at this cat and hen:

The two animals were victims of the Carr fire in California and have become a social media sensation.

The pair were found by firefighters huddled together in a doorway. They had both suffered burns and needed a little love to mend their wounds.

The pair were taken in by the SPCA, where the animals were given water and treated for their burns. During the recovery process, the cat and the hen continued to stick together, seeming to comfort each other during this trying time.

They are expected to make a full recovery.

These duos show once again what we all know to be true — friendships come in all shapes and sizes.
