Share

Mothers sacrifice so much in order to provide for their little ones.

Stay-at-home moms often leave their careers to take care of their children and working moms often miss milestone moments while at work.

Olympic athlete, Serena Williams, knows the pain of the latter all too much.

Alexis Olympia Ohanian, Jr. was born on September 1, 2017. Serena and her husband, Alexis, were beyond excited that they announced their daughter’s birth by sharing a heartwarming video.

Serena has been busy training and competing in this year’s match at Wimbledon; she is trying to win her eighth title in the world-renowned tennis competition.

Even while preparing for the match, Serena has made sure to spend some quality time with her daughter. She shared videos of her daughter “helping” her just before she stepped onto the court on Snapchat.

On Friday, July 6, she actually advanced to the fourth round, but that win was bittersweet for the working mom.

While she was training, little Olympia crossed a major milestone: She took her first steps!

While she was excited and proud of her 10-month-old daughter, she was extremely sad that she missed the monumental moment. She admitted just how upset she was on Twitter hours after the match.

“She took her first steps … I was training and I missed it. I cried,” the tweet read.

Moms have rallied around the athlete to encourage her and help lift the weight of guilt from her shoulders.

“Don’t beat yourself up over it. You’ll miss a lot of firsts, but you’ll see plenty too. Nobody but you is her mom, you’ll be together whenever it counts most,” one Twitter user responded. This is only one example of the thousands of encouraging responses to the tweet.

The amount of support and love that other moms are showing to Serena is incredibly inspiring and sweet reminder to be kind to others!
