Planned Parenthood Removes CEO, Twitter Users Erupt with Brutal Responses

Share

In a secret closed-door meeting, the board of Planned Parenthood stripped Dr. Leana Wen of her CEO title with the organization. Wen had been in the position for less than a year.

Wen was apparently not expecting the sudden decision, according to her comments Tuesday afternoon. “I just learned that the @PPFA Board ended my employment at a secret meeting,” Wen tweeted. “We were engaged in good faith negotiations about my departure based on philosophical differences over the direction and future of Planned Parenthood. My statement to come shortly.”

Do you think Wen's dismissal will get much attention in the establishment media?

The news did not escape the watchful eye of Twitter users, who took the time to point out some irony.

And the comments were not subtle.

“I’m sorry you had no say in your termination,” said Alex Griswold, a reporter for the Washington Free Beacon.

“She can take solace in the fact the she was terminated safely and legally,” quipped Daily Wire pundit Matt Walsh.

Rep. Mark Walker added, “the term of Planned Parenthood’s president lasted around 40 weeks. Wishing all babies had that same amount of time.”

Abby Johnson, the former Planned Parenthood employee behind the movie Unplanned, extended an invitation to Wen. “Leana, I know exactly how Planned Parenthood works and know ALL about their secret meetings. If you ever want to talk about your experience (in complete confidence), I’m here. I will help in any way I can through your transition,” tweeted Johnson.

“Planned Parenthood’s priority will ALWAYS be abortion, not their staff, not the health of women, not basic human decency,” tweeted Lila Rose, the founder of the pro-life organization Live Action. “It’s why hundreds of workers are leaving the abortion industry, & why millions more Americans are becoming pro-life.”

“A termination has occurred at Planned Parenthood…” said Obianuju Ekeocha, a vocal pro-life advocate.
