Woman Loses 312 Lbs, Undergoes Life-Changing Surgery To Remove 7 Lbs of Painful Loose Skin
Instagram influencer Lexi Reed (@fatgirlfedup) from Terre Haute, Indiana, has built a large following after her dramatic weight loss transformation.
In 2016, she and her husband, Danny, weighed a combined 765 pounds — and 485 pounds of that total came from Lexi.
“We would spend most nights just sitting on the couch watching television and mindlessly eating junk food,” she said. “We would order a whole pizza, breadsticks, wings and a liter of soda.”
But in January 2016, the couple agreed to take a friend up on a challenge: They would attempt a full 30 days of healthy eating.
They added in exercise, too. Lexi soon found herself sweating away on an elliptical five days a week.
“When I walked into the gym at 485 pounds, I told myself that it was basically going to be the first day of the rest of my life,” she explained. “And if people were going to stare at me because of my weight, I was going to give them a reason to stare by being the hardest worker in the room.”
The program worked. Danny dropped 90 pounds, slimming down to a healthy 190. But it was Lexi who experienced the greatest transformation.
She shed an astonishing 312 pounds. People magazine reported that the weight loss had a consequence that Lexi probably didn’t consider: She ended up with seven pounds of floppy, stretched skin.
According to VT, she said, “I have loose skin over my entire body and it hurts. I have been in pain for months, but nobody knows the reality of the pain loose skin can cause but the vanity of plastic surgery.
“My legs are heavy and my neck is tired from carrying this around. … This is my reality after living my whole life obese.”
Fortunately, Lexi had options. She spoke with a surgeon and elected to have the excess skin removed.
“Nine hours of surgery and a 360 bottom lift tomorrow,” she said. “This is a major surgery, and I will have to spend six weeks recovering before I am able to hit the gym.
“This surgery is something that is not easy for me to do as it means I have to take off time from the things I love, my work, my workouts, my routine, my life, and my many responsibilities. However I know that it’ll be worth it.”
Indeed, Lexi and Danny have already said that losing so much weight was worth it. However, you might be surprised to hear that the best part for them wasn’t their improved appearances.
“It wasn’t about the weight that we lost but the life we gained,” Lexi said. Indeed, and here’s to hoping her influence inspires many others.
