Clay Matthews will need surgery after breaking nose during charity softball game
Over his nine-year NFL career, Packers linebacker Clay Matthews has proven that he’s one tough hombre.
He’s been named a Pro Bowler six times.
He’s sacked opposing quarterbacks 80 times.
And the Packers stalwart has piled up 337 tackles.
Maybe he should stick to a safe sport … like football.
On Saturday, Matthews narrowly avoided what could have been a disastrous injury — in a charity softball game.
He was pitching to teammate Lucas Patrick when this happened:

Like a true football player, Matthews did get up pretty quickly, and walked off under his own power.

The diagnosis?
A broken nose, which could have been much worse. Still, he’ll need surgery.
“Thank you for all the concern and well-wishes. I busted my nose pretty good and will have surgery once the swelling subsides. Thankful as it could have been much more serious,” Matthews wrote on Twitter.

Of course, knowing that it looked worse than it actually was, you knew that he wasn’t going to get much sympathy from his teammates.
