Houston Police Officers’ Union President Joe Gamaldi slammed “dirtbags” who spread anti-law enforcement rhetoric after four Houston police officers were shot Monday night during a drug raid.

The shootout took place while officers were investigating a drug case in the southeast section of the city, according to ABC News.

They were met with gunfire as soon as they reached the door of the home they were targeting. Four were wounded immediately, with two shot in the neck, according to CNN.

Two suspects were found dead at the scene.

Initial reports indicated five officers had been shot, but CNN reported that the fifth had suffered a knee injury.

Speaking at the hospital, Gamaldi exploded on those who support anti-cop rhetoric.

“We are sick and tired of having targets on our back,” he said.

Police officers have been under fire from the left in recent years, especially with protests from so-called antifa thugs and NFL players like Colin Kaepernick.

The media only fuels the left’s outrage by zealously reporting on alleged incidents of police brutality, but the media doesn’t report on police officers who’ve been brutalized with anywhere near the same level of interest.

In 2018, 144 police officers died in the line of duty, according to a preliminary study of data by the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund. That’s a 12 percent increase from the 129 police officers who died on duty in 2017.

“We are sick and tired of having dirtbags trying to take our lives when all we’re trying to do is protect this community and protect our families,” Gamaldi said. “Enough is enough.”

It’s obvious that Gamaldi was referring to antifa and the left-wing media.

Liberals seem to have no respect for the law — they embrace illegal immigration, want to abolish Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and criticize police officers at every opportunity.

Do you think the media is anti-cop?

When NFL players were protesting “police brutality,” the establishment media rarely stopped to clarify that the overwhelming majority of police officers are good people dealing with some of the most dangerous elements in society.

Because of the left’s blatant anti-cop rhetoric, tragedies are more likely to happen.

When the left-wing establishment media undermines the law, some criminals see a green light to do whatever they please.

And Monday’s shooting in Houston is exactly the result to expect.

CORRECTION: This article originally stated that 144 police officers had died in 2018 and 129 in 2017. It left out the important fact that those numbers included only line-of-duty deaths and that those numbers were based on a preliminary study by the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund. Those details have now been added, and we apologize for any confusion we may have caused.
