NY Dem Sen. Pushes Massive Invasion of Privacy Bill for Gun Buyers: Investigate Their Past
In what could only be construed as a massive invasion of privacy into anyone who is even remotely interested in legally purchasing a gun, New York has introduced a startling new bill that would allow state and local law enforcement to go through a person’s search history and social media postings, according to WPIX-TV.
Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams and Democratic State Sen. Kevin Parker announced the introduction of the legislation on Friday.

Under the newly proposed legislation, local and state law enforcement would be able snoop through social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat, going back as far as three years. They will also be able to look up internet search histories dating back to a year. This is almost worse than Canada outright trying to take guns away.
Incredulously, Parker tried to frame the massive potential intrusion as tantamount to our freedom.
“The price of freedom is eternal vigilance and so it’s important for us to continue to review our laws as it relates to access to guns and other kinds of weapons,” Parker said during the conference.
No, Mr. Parker, “eternal vigilance” is literally the opposite of freedom. Government intrusion into someone’s personal life, particularly one who has committed no crimes or done anything illegal, is the antithesis of freedom.
If anything, it’s a dystopian nightmare straight out of the pages of George Orwell’s “1984.”
For Democrats to try to frame this as some prerequisite of freedom is ignorant at best and willfully misleading at worst.
“Too many people who are emotionally disturbed are doing and showing their emotional instability on the social-media platforms,” Adams also noted. “Yet these platforms are not being used to properly scrutinize if an individual should purchase a firearm.”
The problems are readily apparent with what Adams is positing.
What if someone likes to quote songs that sometimes contain violent lyrics? What if they like violent television shows and like to post on social media about them? Or what about the swathes of disturbed people who don’t even post on social media? This new proposition is meddling for meddling’s sake.
“Don’t only use it to respond to a criminal act, use it to prevent a criminal act,” Adams added. In essence, Adams seems to be wholly advocating for a nightmarish spin on “The Minority Report.”
Only Democrats would think that an intrusion into someone’s private life — someone who has not done anything wrong aside from wanting to purchase a gun — is somehow “freedom.” It’s no secret that the far left hates the Second Amendment and will go to any lengths to disrupt American citizens legally purchasing guns.
But now it’s readily apparent that they hate freedom, too.
