Joe Biden Absurdly Claims 'Jim Crow Is Sneaking Back in' While Railing Against Trump
The moment that I saw Joe Biden’s campaign announcement video, I could pretty much tell what the tone of the Biden campaign would be: No substance, tons of fear. And most of that fear was going to be race-based.
For those of you who missed Uncle Joe’s online campaign kickoff, it relied heavily on blaming President Donald Trump for not being hard enough when it came to the Charlottesville clash of August 2017, deliberately misinterpreting Trump’s “very fine people on both sides” line and marketing a Biden candidacy as a return to normalcy after a president who deliberately stoked the fires of racial hatred.
Now, this isn’t anything particularly novel from Biden, the man who once told a majority African-American audience that Mitt Romney was “gonna put y’all back in chains.” In fact, one could have expected that he was going to go to that well at some point during the campaign.
However, it was a bit surprising he started his campaign at that well, and even more surprising he’s chosen to remain at that well, dry though it may be.
Biden’s latest attempt to link conservatives and open racism was in South Carolina, a state that was in the very heart of segregation when the Democrats controlled Dixie like their own personal fiefdom.
But now, Biden said, the real threat is the Republicans, who want to bring that all back.
“You’ve got Jim Crow sneaking back in,” Biden told a crowd in South Carolina on Saturday, according to Fox News.
“You know what happens when you have an equal right to vote? They lose.”
Biden was talking about “Republican efforts to adopt more stringent voting rules, including identification requirements and curtailing early voting hours,” Fox News reported.
As for voter ID concerns, I love the fact that the left pretends to believe minorities and Democrats somehow have less capacity to get a state ID than white people or Republicans do.
Meanwhile, it’s the GOP who’s injecting racism into the voting process. Just let that sink in.
Is this Jim Crow to Biden? Is this a poll tax or the systemic oppression of African-Americans by force?
Have you seen separate drinking fountains for whites and blacks being erected across America since Nov. 8, 2016?
Has anyone provided evidence that we’re slipping back to the days of Bull Connor and Orval Faubus? (Proud Democrats both, by the way.)
No, of course not — but this sounds ominous, which is all that matters. It doesn’t just make President Trump and the Republicans sound as if they’re racists, it reinforces the idea they’re actively trying to take us back to the dark ages in terms of American race relations.
Biden, of course, studiously neglected to mention which major American political party was responsible for the dark ages of Jim Crow, which seems to have been just fine since the media wasn’t going to mention it, either. (Hint: It wasn’t the party that nominated Donald Trump.)
I will say this, though: Biden’s ability to handle cognitive dissonance is truly impressive, in a disturbing way.
Later that night, according to Fox, speaking at a fundraising event, Biden assured the crowd the nasty campaigner was really Trump.
“This guy is going to go after me and family,” Biden said.
However, he made sure everyone knew he was going to go after Trump, too, saying there “are so many nicknames I want to give this guy,” adding that he’d “start with ‘clown.'”
“The only place he has any confidence is in the mud,” Biden told the audience, since Trump “doesn’t understand how to respond to issues.”
These words were coming from a candidate who, mere hours earlier, told an audience that his opponents were literally taking our country back to the days of Jim Crow and segregation — during a speech in South Carolina, no less.
But yet, he’s the one taking the high road while Donald Trump and the GOP wallow in the muck. Right.
Get ready for plenty of this hypocritical preening from Biden as the 2020 race intensifies, particularly when it comes to race-baiting as naked as this.
