Trump Calls It: 'Mueller’s Angry Dems Are Looking to Impact the Election'

Share

If you can’t beat them … just run out the clock?

That seems to be the game plan Democrats are banking on when it comes to the currently years-long Mueller investigation.

After all, why drag out such a lengthy and expensive investigation that has yet to yield anything of significance?

Yes, things have popped up here and there. Characters who are tertiary to President Donald Trump have been caught up, even though all have long since been disassociated from the president.

But as far as actual concrete evidence proving collusion with the Russians? Zilch.

So why exactly are Democrats clinging so tightly to the Mueller investigation? For them to keep up this masquerade despite the hefty costs and lack of tangible results, there must be something other than the most distant of hopes for a Trump impeachment.

Trump, in a Monday morning tweet tirade, thinks he has the answer.

Trump lambasted the sheer waste of time Mueller and his “Angry Democrat Thugs” used up for transparency’s sake in the first of several tweets.

Trump claimed that Mueller and his team were just “looking for trouble.” And from all indications, the president is right. For there to not be, at the very least, one significant and non-circumstantial piece of evidence linking Trump to Russian meddling is a damning indictment of either Mueller’s incompetence or biased belief that Trump must have done something wrong.

Do you think the Mueller investigation should end?

But the real kicker, and where Trump probably landed his most direct shot on the “Angry Dems” is when he claimed they were “looking to impact the election.”

For Democrats to embrace such a fruitless endeavor, they must have an endgame. If they can somehow keep this asinine investigation going into 2020, regardless of actual developments, it will undoubtedly have an impact on people who are on the fence between re-electing Trump and electing whichever Democratic nominee runs in the next general election.

It’s an old war tactic. If you can’t yield results, at least go for subtle influence.

Trump finished his Twitter rant with one last shot at people still hoping for the Mueller investigation to turn into something substantial.

“Where the Collusion?” Trump asked in his tweet.

Thus far, the answer has been a resounding “Nowhere.” But that may not even matter to Democrats if they can string this along to 2020.
