These Videos Are Proof that Baby Giggles Are Contagious
As we get older, we tend to learn that the world can be an unwelcoming and unkind place. We lose our childish hopes and dreams as fairy tales slowly fade from our vocabulary.
This doesn’t happen to everyone to the same degree, but in general, it’s true that we tend to become walled off as we mature. That helps us get through life, but it can prevent us from taking the time to enjoy the simple things.
Babies have no concept of jobs, or stress, or money. They know what they don’t like, and they know what they like.
They’re not averse to exhaustive rounds of belly-shaking laughter — in fact, they can’t seem to help themselves when they find something hilarious.
Different things set different babies off, but they’re almost always ridiculous, simple or otherwise, something that us sensible adults wouldn’t pay much attention to. But maybe we should.
Take this jolly little one, for example, who has discovered the delights of playing in the water. Many babies would find water being poured over their heads to be sheer horror (You ever been to a baby baptism or sprinkling? Yeah.), but not this one.
The reason is less clear for this next baby, who starts the video off by shaking his head but soon dissolves into uncontrollable laughter. Whether something off screen has got his attention or he’s just happy for the sake of being happy, he’s adorable.
Besides, why do we need an explanation for why we’re happy? Can’t we just be happy like this little guy?
When there are two babies, there’s double the trouble as well as double the laughter potential. These two could keep each other entertained for hours.
The baby on the left starts splashing, and the baby on the right erupts into laughter. The splashing baby seems to put this together and continues splashing, all to the giggling baby’s delight.
There are the classics, too, like this video that you’ve no doubt seen (but does it ever get old?). The quadruplets find their dad absolutely hilarious, and every time he makes a funny sound, peals of joy fill the room.
Times four. For almost two minutes straight.
It’s nearly impossible to watch these and not at least smile along with these merry littles. They’re an excellent reminder, in their own way, to return to relishing the simple joys in life.
