Woman Sneaks into Mom's House with Granddaughter She's Never Met, Grandma in Tears

Share

It was Mother’s Day 2015, and a new mom from Los Angeles knew the perfect way to celebrate. She strapped her baby girl into the car seat and set out on the open road to grandma’s house.

The young mom, who is not identified by name in the video, had an adorable 5-month-old daughter that had only seen her grandma through video chats on a screen.

Grandma Debbie would gush over her new granddaughter’s sweet little face, but certainly must have longed to dote on the baby in person.

After making the trek from L.A. to Wenatchee, Washington, the new mom decided to give her mother a surprise phone call.

She pretended to be out for a walk in her own neighborhood, never revealing she was just minutes away from walking through grandma’s front door.

Grandma Debbie was delighted to take her daughter’s phone call, and was tickled to see her cute granddaughter out for a walk. She kept saying how adorable and happy the baby was, never suspecting the baby would soon be in her arms.

The daughter kept saying she was just out for a walk, and the grandma even inquired further, but didn’t realize she was so close.

Her daughter kept the phone angled so it was mostly the sky above her that was visible, not the neighbor’s yards that her mother certainly would have recognized.

Ready to execute her surprise, the young mom casually asked Grandma Debbie to go into the backyard.

The mom pretended to be really interested in the progress being made to some work happening in the backyard, which was just a ploy to get grandma out of the house.

With grandma outside, the mom made her way up the walkway. She opened the front door, babe in her arms, and simply walked inside.

Grandma Debbie’s dog was the first to notice something was up. The dog released several sharp barks, immediately drawing Grandma Debbie’s attention.

Grandma Debbie was stunned, to say the least. Tears sprung into her eyes as she asked, “What are you doing here!?”

A warm embrace between mother, daughter, and new baby granddaughter — what could make for a more memorable surprise? Grandma Debbie sobbed as she placed the baby close to her chest, for the very first time.

“Happy Mother’s Day, Mama,” the young mom beamed. Her plan had worked, and she grinned into the camera, showing off just how happy she was to see grandma and granddaughter meet.

Grandma couldn’t believe the pair had made the impulsive road trip all on her account. But by the smiles and tears on everyone’s faces, it looked like the Mother’s Day road trip was well worth it.
