CNN Humiliates Itself Trying to Sound Knowledgeable on Guns, Failing Massively
In the wake of the horrific mass shooting at the Stoneman Douglas High School this week, CNN posted an absurd tweet Thursday in which it warned its leftist readers, laughably enough, that Florida residents may carry a concealed rifle or shotgun without a permit.
“In Florida, you don’t need a permit to conceal carry a rifle or shotgun, although you do need it to conceal carry a handgun,” the manifestly left-wing “news” outlet tweeted. “You can buy as many guns as you want at one time, because Florida doesn’t regulate that either.”
Frankly, it takes a special kind of stupid to tweet something so inanely dumb, since, as anyone with even a shred of common-sense already knows, rifles and shotguns are far too large to “conceal” in, say, a pocket.
Take a look at a snapshot of the tweet below, or access it directly here, assuming the not-so-bright bulbs at CNN haven’t deleted it yet.
Writing sarcastically in response to this tweet, Breitbart firearms expert Awr Hawkins wondered, “Could it be that Florida does not require a permit to carry a long gun concealed because carrying one in such a fashion is not practical, both because of the awkwardness of concealing such a weapon and because of trying to do so in such a hot and humid climate?”
In other words, to successfully “conceal” a rifle, one would have to wear several fairly large sweaters. And this would clearly make no sense in a state where the average temperature as of February seemed to be around 75 degrees Fahrenheit.
Hawkins further noted that Florida’s gun laws, including its gun registration laws that CNN tried to criticize in its tweet, mirror those of almost every other state.
“While CNN could not believe that Florida does not require residents to register guns, even a cursory at the NRA-ILA’s guide to State Gun Laws shows that only two states, California and Hawaii, require residents to register all their guns,” he wrote.
But apparently, none of these facts appeared to matter much to CNN, i.e., the same network that glorified North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un’s sister for “stealing the show” at the Winter Olympics last week.
It’s also the network that’s been incessantly clamoring for more gun control (examples here, here, here and here) ever since suspected shooter Nikolas Cruz killed 17 people at a mass shooting Wednesday at Stoneman Douglas High School.
If CNN wants to push for gun control, fine, but you’d think its contributors could at least take the time to learn the basics about guns.
Speaking of which, check out the following brutal (and HILARIOUS) replies to CNN’s absolutely harebrained tweet:
I believe the latter tweet just won the entire internet. As for CNN, it’s certainly deserving of a Guinness World Record for the “dumbest news network in America,” at the very least.
Please share this story on Facebook and Twitter and let us now what you think about CNN’s unbelievably stupid and nonsensical warning about the rifle/shotgun laws in Florida.
