People Are Sharing Heartwarming Stories of 'The Kindest Thing a Stranger Has Done or Said'
Who doesn’t love a random act of kindness story? Even when we’re having the worst day, the smallest smile from a stranger can make all the difference.
Nicole Cliffe, a writer for “Christianity Today” and other well-known publications, asked a question on Twitter for her 115K followers.
“What is the kindest thing a stranger has done or said to you?” Cliffe tweeted. A simple question on the surface, but one that has invited a huge response.

The question has been retweeted over 6,000 times to date. The stories her followers have shared are heartwarming and cry-worthy.
One woman told of a man who stopped her and her husband at a restaurant. They had kids in car seats and the man just so happened to work for an auto repair shop.
He told them their brakes were bad, but what came next is astounding. CJ Fangirls says the kind stranger “replaced our brake system free to keep the kids safe because he knew it would be expensive.”
“I’m pretty sure I randomly cried over it for a week,” she tweeted, explaining that they were struggling financially and the random act came at the perfect time.
We once had a man wait outside a restaurant for god knows how long. When we got to our car he told us he noticed our car seats AND that our brakes were visibly bad. He worked for a shop & replaced our brake system free to keep the kids safe because he knew it would be expensive.

I’m pretty sure I randomly cried over it for a week. Our dinner out was a huge irresponsible treat at the time because things were so hard and both kids were under the age of 3. He saved us hundreds of dollars, possibly our lives and was purely doing it out of concern.

Another gal opened up about the time in middle school when her digital camera broke. “I really wanted to see if the Sony store would fix the camera,” Shelby Hintze wrote. Hintze was told there was “nothing they could do.”
She went on to say that as she left the store “on the verge of tears,” an employee chased her down and gave her “a new, refurbished camera.” Wow!

A veteran tweeted about a time when she was 18. “I was stranded in Frankfurt Germany,” she begins. What she shared about the homeless people who helped her will melt your heart.
Out of money with no way to call for help, the veteran was shocked when a group of nearby homeless people gave her what was most likely the only money they had to help pay for a phone call.
At 18yo in 1987 I was stranded in Frankfurt Germany. There were no ATMs that you could use in other countries with US cards, especially late at night. Several homeless people outside the train station put their pfennigs together so I could call my unit to get help.

Cliffe even shared a couple of her own sob stories. She talks about a time when her baby got sick on a plane, which ended up delaying a flight.
“They had to bring the plane back to replace the seat and seatbelt and everyone hated me…” she recalled. In the end, one of the flight attendants gave her some clothes from her own carry on!
