Pelosi Angry Trump Fired Sec. State She Absolutely Hated

Share

Maybe she was hoping America would forget?

As Washington buzzed on Tuesday with the news that President Donald Trump had fired Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and was hiring CIA Director Mike Pompeo for the job, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi issued a statement criticizing Trump for the move, even though she was against Tillerson herself not all that long ago.

She also proved one more time that when it comes to the Trump White House, Democrats just can’t be trusted.

Pelosi blasted the Tillerson firing as a “profoundly disturbing precedent” and tried to immediately start beating Democrats’ favorite drum of Trump’s alleged softness toward Russia.

The only problem is that Pelosi seems to have forgotten what she said when Trump appointed Tillerson in the first place.

In a December 2016 interview with MSNBC’s “Andrea Mitchell Reports,” Pelosi nearly called Tillerson treasonous for the ties to Russia he developed in his days as the CEO of Exxon Mobil.

She was particularly critical of Tillerson’s relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“The coziness with Vladimir Putin is very alarming and should have eliminated him, frankly,” Pelosi said, according to The Guardian.

On Tuesday, though, Pelosi was singing a different tune.

Now, getting rid of Tillerson amounts to a Trump betrayal of America’s allies.

So in 2016 Pelosi’s view, Tillerson was too cozy with Russia for our allies’ good.

Should Nancy Pelosi leave Congress while she still remembers where the door is?
In Nancy Pelosi version 2018, though, Tillerson’s firing is apparently reason to believe that he was standing up for our allies so much that it earned him a “humiliating dismissal” by Trump.

Actually, grounds for a “humiliating dismissal” would be an inability to keep the names of United States presidents straight, apparently forgetting what decade one is living in and suffering public breakdowns on camera.

But since Pelosi has exhibited all of those behaviors and managed to keep her job in Congress, maybe she’s not the best judge.

Maybe her San Francisco liberal constituents are OK with a congresswoman so blinded by her hatred of all things Trump that she can’t be trusted to hold even one opinion consistently if it comes at the price of a chance to criticize the president.

But the rest of America won’t be OK with her leading the opposition party — and that could benefit Republicans as the 2018 midterms approach.

Unfortunately for Nancy Pelosi, America’s memory is better than hers is.
