Tiger Woods under fire after threatening ex-girlfriend - report
The Masters, arguably the most prestigious tournament in all of golf, is right around the corner.
Unlike the past several years, there is an undercurrent of excitement and anticipation due in no small part to Tiger Woods, who is back to looking like an actual professional golfer.
After dealing with some well-documented struggles involving personal issues and an aging body, Woods has seemingly found his groove again. He finished tied for fifth and second place in his last two events, a far cry from when he was failing to even make the cut.
A resurgent Woods and the Masters should’ve been a clean narrative that any golf fan could look forward to.
Now? Woods is dealing with another highly personal matter, and it’s frankly the last thing Woods or any of his fans want to hear about.
According to TMZ Sports, Woods is currently engaged in a nasty legal battle with ex-girlfriend Kristin Smith. The two dated from 2015 to 2017.
The source of the former couple’s acrimony allegedly stems from a non-disclosure agreement that Smith agreed to sign in 2017 after the two broke up.
Woods allegedly cheated on Smith, prompting the breakup. However, with his infidelity scandals from 2009 still haunting him, Woods opted to pay Smith off and have her sign an NDA so as to prevent any more sexually charged rumors from floating about.
It’s not clear if Smith actually agreed to the terms of the NDA and accepted the money.
The two camps are in arbitration, with Woods’ team apparently contending that Smith did, in fact, sign an NDA and accept the buyout.
It’s still not clear why Smith has suddenly decided to fight the purported NDA.
Perhaps the most damning part of the report comes from Woods’ alleged handling of Smith’s sudden desire to renege on the NDA.
Woods reportedly threatened Smith with the disclosure of “embarrassing pictures” of her if Smith doesn’t honor the NDA, according to TMZ.
If true, that’s a terrible look for Woods and a far bigger black eye than his infidelity scandal. Things have apparently gotten bad enough for lawyers to be involved.
Woods is certainly no stranger to sex scandals.
The golf star was involved in an infamous scandal with his first wife, where it was revealed in 2009 that Woods was courting multiple mistresses. The personal fallout and subsequent golf injuries that began piling up marked the beginning of the end of Woods’ reign as the world’s best golfer.
Whether or not Smith intentionally began fighting her NDA when she did in order to maximize the damage to Woods (his stock hasn’t been higher in years), it’s the absolute last type of distraction Woods needs before the Masters.
