Woman Reads 5 Words Written on Cupcakes at Bakery, Turns To Find Boyfriend Dropped to 1 Knee
So you’ve found the one. You’ve gotten to know each other and planned a future together, and while you may not know exactly what the future holds, you know you want them in it.
The next thing to do is to plan the proposal. Usually that task falls to the guy, but either way it requires plenty of creativity and an intimate understanding of the loved one’s likes and dislikes.
Chase Weeden came up with the perfect plan to propose to his girlfriend Paige TeGantvoort. He didn’t want to use any of the typical locations, so he decided to set the stage at one of Paige’s favorite places: Oh My Cupcakes!, a bakery she was an email subscriber to.
“We had a VERY special moment happen at our The Bridges at 57th Street location on Saturday,” Oh My Cupcakes! posted on Facebook on March 25. “Chase reached out during the week and asked if we would message Paige to tell her she had won a random drawing from Oh My Cupcakes!”
“A half dozen cupcakes were ready for her on Saturday afternoon, and they came in together and with a couple of friends to pick them up. The “giveaway”? It was more than she ever suspected. ?”
“She was confused for a moment, then turned around to find Chase on one knee. It was BUSY in the store when the big moment happened, and everyone got happy tears all over their cupcakes. #sorrynotsorry What an incredible opportunity, that we got to be a small part of their engagement!”
“When we say it’s about MORE than cupcakes, that it’s all about special moments like these, we’re not kidding,” the post concluded. “Congratulations, Chase and Paige!!”
TeGantvoort told her side of the story to Argus Leader, and said she had no idea what was actually about to happen. She sincerely believed she was picking up some cupcakes she’d won.
“I was going to wait my turn in line,” she said. “(The owner of Oh My Cupcakes!) said, ‘Oh Paige we have your cupcakes.’ I was like, ‘Jeez this is a big deal.'”
When she spotted the cupcakes, though, and had a chance to read them, it dawned on her. “I was like, ‘Ohh, man,'” she said.
Despite Weeden being “very, very nervous,” his efforts were applauded and TeGantvoort said yes. Not only had he arranged the proposal with the bakery, he had also asked his mom to take TeGantvoort out for manicures earlier that morning so she would be able to show off her new bling flawlessly.
His mother, Nancy Fradet, commented on the Oh My Cupcakes! post, thanking them and wishing the couple all the best.
“This is my youngest boy and future daughter in law,” she wrote. “Oh My Cupcakes made this day for them extra special. It will never be forgotten. Thank you!!! Congratulations to you Chase and Paige.”
“Thank you guys for making our special day even better and I couldn’t have imagined it going any more perfect!!” the groom-to-be also commented. “You guys did an amazing job with the cupcakes and just everything!!!! Again, Paige and I thank you guys soooo very much!!”
“Celebrating people’s special moments is what we live for,” the bakery owner, Melissa Johnson, said. “It was so cool to be a part of it.”
