Woman with Stage 4 Breast Cancer Left in Tears After Receiving Surprise Trip to Disney

Share

It doesn’t matter what age you are, no one is ever too old to be a kid at heart. No one is ever too old for Disney.

Many Make-A-Wish trips have been granted to terminally ill kids who want nothing more than to meet Mickey Mouse at least once.

But what about adults facing a terminal diagnosis? Who is going to make their magical Disney dreams come true?

One stage 4 cancer patient from North Carolina has been given one of her lifelong dreams, and it’s all thanks to an amazing group of her co-workers.

Debra Cox has seen her fair share of battles. From breast cancer to throat cancer and now having that cancer spread to her spine, she is one tough woman.

She’s a hard worker, too. Cox has been with Systel Business Equipment, a company that sells office equipment, for over two decades.

“(Debra) just got done with her latest phase of radiation and just had a bad go of it,” Cara Spencer, a Systel executive, told WTVD.

“I was in my office and I overheard her one day,” Spencer said. “And she said ‘I’ve never been to Disney, and it kind of broke my heart.’”

But thanks to Spencer and the Systel crew, a GoFundMe campaign for Cox was successful in no time.

In less than two weeks, the campaign raised over $2,300 of its $3,500 goal. Spencer even said Cox will be given a scooter so she can move easily when she travels.

“It means the world to me,” Cox told WTVD. She said that she has been a single mom for most of her son’s life and is excited to share a Disney memory with him this coming Mother’s Day.

We are incredibly thrilled for Debra and her son Patrick. We have no doubt they’ll have the time of their lives with the big mouse himself.

If you would like to help Debra with her medical expenses or other travel expenses, please consider donating to her GoFundMe campaign.
