Christian-Hating CBS Story Says Karen Pence 'Cheers Discrimination' by Being Art Teacher at Christian School

Share

A recent stunning example of the ongoing attacks against Christians and Christianity was displayed by CBS this past week.

An attack against the administration of President Donald Trump was thrown in, too, for good measure.

Vice President Mike Pence‘s wife is a teacher and painter, and has been for 25 years.

For almost half of her teaching career, Karen Pence worked at the Immanuel Christian School in Springfield, Virginia, according to Time magazine.

Now she’s accepted a position at the school as an elementary art teacher, which will comprise two days a week of work until May.

“I am excited to be back in the classroom and doing what I love to do, which is to teach art to elementary students,” she said in a statement. “I have missed teaching art, and it’s great to return to the school where I taught art for twelve years.”

What could possibly be wrong with this?

The school is Christian and has a policy that enraged the left, so CBS ran an article that explained how terrible Pence was for making such a decision.

NewsBusters noted that CBS anchor Jeff Glor made it clear what the problem was. “Vice President Mike Pence’s wife, Karen, has returned to teaching at a Christian school in Virginia where gay students and gay teachers are not welcome.”

Correspondent Chip Reid stated that “the private elementary school’s website says it may ‘refuse admission’ or ‘discontinue enrollment of a student’ if a ‘parent or guardian’ violates a ‘biblical lifestyle’. Prohibited behavior includes ‘participating in, supporting, or condoning … homosexual activity.’ Likewise, employees, including teachers, can be fired for engaging in ‘homosexual or lesbian activity’ or ‘transgender identity’.”

Reid was quick to add, “Those rules would appear to be consistent with the views of Vice President Mike Pence, a longtime critic of gay rights.” Bashing biblical Christianity and the Trump administration at the same time is a double win to the left.

However, in that same report, Reid admitted that “rules banning homosexuality are not uncommon at private Christian schools, and generally they do not violate the law.” So the school is within its legal rights to have such a policy.

In that same CBS report, Evan Wolfson, Freedom to Marry founder and president, and a legal professor, went in for the kill. “Karen Pence is sending a message.”

“This is the Second Lady of the United States cheering that discrimination and exclusion on.”

Wait, what? How is simply teaching art to children her cheering on “discrimination and exclusion?”

It isn’t, but for the left it is an opening. Because of Pence’s religious beliefs and the school she is teaching at, the left used the opportunity to openly attack Christians and Christianity.

Do you believe Karen Pence is doing anything wrong?

The running narrative, as exemplified by this attack on the second lady, is that Christians are bigots because of their biblical views on sexuality and marriage. Never mind the fact that this country was created with religious freedom for all Americans.

This attack and others like it set a dangerous precedent, which says that it is okay for even the establishment media to openly and falsely accuse Christians — like Karen Pence — of being bigots.

The attack sends a message that the left’s self-declared “tolerance” doesn’t include tolerating the religious choices of others when those choices involve Christianity, and it also sends a message that it is okay to character assassinate Christians who hold Constitutionally-protected beliefs.
