Flashback: Tim Tebow has powerful message for what every Christian in America needs to do
Tim Tebow is beloved for a variety of reasons.
He has a tireless work ethic. His philanthropic work through the “Tim Tebow Foundation” is endless. He never stoops to the levels of his most hateful critics.
But perhaps his most endearing trait is his unwavering faith and commitment to God.
Among the many examples of this are some powerful quotes Tebow made three years ago.
During a 2015 “God’s Purpose for America” event at Middle Tennessee State University, Tebow opened up on the trials and tribulations of being a Christian in modern American society.
“What’s amazing when you get up and do something is what God does in your life. We just have to get up and do something,” Tebow said.
He also opened up on how he avoids being overwhelmed by the day-to-day chaos in today’s world.
“When your identity is found in Christ, your identity never changes,” Tebow said. “You are always a child of God. That’s why I always say I don’t have to live the roller coaster that the rest of the world lives.”
Tebow also established in 2015 that he’s a Christian who happens to be a professional athlete, not the other way around. It’s certainly an impactful sentiment for someone so closely associated with professional sports.
The sentiments echoed by Tebow also ring true for many Americans in today’s world.
By being a child of God, and committing wholly to it, it does give a bedrock foundation for an identity that isn’t privy to ebbs and flows.
Tebow’s steadiness in life has never been more apparent than with his current baseball career.
Despite swathes of critics lambasting Tebow’s baseball venture as little more than a PR stunt, he remained dedicated and true to his craft. Considering that Tebow was literally involved in a completely different sport less than three years ago, it’s not surprising that he’s had his share of ups and downs in minor league baseball.
Tebow began his baseball career with a slew of mechanical issues and strikeouts. While strikeouts remain an area of improvement for the former football star, he has steadily improved to become a viable Double-A hitter for the Binghamton Rumble Ponies.
Riding a red-hot hitting streak, Tebow is currently batting .277, to go along with six home runs, 13 doubles and 35 RBIs. He was Binghamton’s lone bright spot in an 8-7 road loss to the Akron RubberDucks on Friday night.

His critics have been rather tight-lipped lately, with little to needle Tebow about.
Even if they were still prattling on, it’s unlikely any of it would’ve fazed Tebow. His comments from 2015 made all of that pretty clear.
