White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, a devout Christian, cleverly used a biblical proverb this Tuesday to remind both the anti-Trump media and anti-Trump Democrats why they ought to think twice before disparaging President Donald Trump as a racist.
“Frankly, I think if the critics of the president were who he said he was, why did NBC give him a show for a decade on TV?” she asked a group of reporters, according to The Washington Free Beacon.
“Why did Chuck Schumer and all of his colleagues come and beg Donald Trump for money?” she added.
The Beacon notes that Sanders issued this comment in response to being questioned by reporters about something Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer had said the night before.
During an appearance Monday evening on CBS’ “The Late Show,” Schumer brought up the still unproven claim that Trump had referred to Haiti and El Salvador as “s**thole” nations during a private, closed-door discussion about immigration policy last week with congressional Democrats and Republicans.
“Look, his comments over and over and over again can be described as nothing but racist and obnoxious,” Schumer said. “Actions speak louder than words. If you want to just begin the long road back to proving you’re not racist or bigoted, support the bipartisan compromise three Democrats and three Republicans put on the floor, everyone gave, and get the DREAMers safety here in America.”
In other words, Trump must acquiesce to Democrat demands and provide the so-called DREAMers with blanket amnesty to prove he’s not a racist — not to mention not “mentally unfit.”
Listen to Sanders’ clever retort below:
Sanders’ point was based on Proverbs 13:20, which states, “Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.”
In other words, you are the company you keep, in that if you surround yourself with wise men, you shall prosper, whereas if you surround yourself with fools, you shall be destroyed.
So what does it say about the media and the Democrats that they used to be chummy with Trump, whom they all now claim is a racist?
“If they are who they want to try to portray him as, why did they want to be with him for years and years in various activities, whether it was events and fundraisers and other things?” Sanders continued.
“I think it’s just an outrageous and ludicrous excuse, and they need to get on board and start actually doing what they were elected to do.”
But first they might want to consider taking a close look in the mirror, assuming they can stand the sight that awaits them (*shudders in terror*).
