Kathie Lee Gifford Says 'No' to New Love Interest Because of Beliefs. Knows God Has a Plan

A woman who has a passion for things she believes in is a force to be reckoned with. Kathie Lee Gifford has shown over and over again that she is one of those women.

The “Today” talk show host has not been shy about her Christian faith. She talks about it with such passion that there’s no denying that it’s a huge part of her life.

In 2015 Kathie Lee’s husband, the NFL Hall of Famer, Frank Gifford, died in 2015. They had been married for 29 years.

Even in the midst of grieving, Kathie Lee expressed her thankfulness toward the grace God has shown her and her family.

Two years after his death, Kathie Lee’s mom asked her if she would ever be open to love again. Her response was grounded in her faith, “Mom, I’m open to anything the Lord has for me at this point in my life.”

She went on to tell co-host Hoda Kotb that she wasn’t actively searching, but that she was open to anything the Lord wants for her life.

Six months later, Kathie Lee talked about her love life in an interview with Access Live. She said that she is still open to finding new love, but recognizes that the probability of it happening is low.

“Some men are afraid of strong women,” she said. “I wouldn’t be interested in a man like that anyway.”

Kathie Lee explained that she had gone on one date in the two and half years since her husband’s death, but that it didn’t go well. Once she found out that the man’s beliefs didn’t line up with her’s, she ended the date.

When he didn’t understand she responded, “I said, ‘My faith isn’t something I do on Sunday mornings for an hour. My faith is me, and I’m not going to share my life with somebody or even another hour of my life on a date with you if you don’t share the same passion for your faith as I do.'”
