NFL player breaks silence after body of friend found in his basement
Janoris Jenkins has broken his silence about the death of a friend who was allegedly killed by the Giants cornerback’s brother.
Hip-hop producer Roosevelt Rene (a.k.a. Trypps Beats) was found dead at Jenkins’ Fair Lawn, New Jersey, home on June 26.
Authorities say Rene was involved in a physical altercation with Williams Jenkins Jr. that led to his death.
Janoris Jenkins addressed Rene’s death in an Instagram post Thursday.
“With Regret and sadness I wish to inform the fans, and the public a good friend of mine Roosevelt Rene a.k.a Trypps Beats was found dead at my place of residence,” he wrote. “Trypps was a good friend and we were collaborating on music production together. It truly hurts my heart to know he passed away. …
“As this is an ongoing incident, I cannot answer any questions related to the investigation. I am praying for Roosevelt and his family.”

Rene reportedly was living in the home with both of the Jenkins brothers, although Janoris said he was in Florida on a promotional tour at the time of the incident.
The Daily Mail, citing a complaint of the incident, said William Jenkins showed “extreme indifference to human life and recklessly caused Rene’s death.”
William Jenkins has been charged with aggravated manslaughter.
This is not his first brush with the law: His record includes convictions for aggravated battery, grand theft and burglary.
Incidentally, according to the Mail, William Jenkins was taken into custody for an unrelated parole violation. While he was in jail, it was revealed that he was a person of interest in Rene’s death.
Police reportedly were looking into strangulation and/or suffocation as the cause of death.
Per law enforcement sources, police are investigating a possible strangulation/suffocation as the cause of death in the case of the body found at Giants CB Janoris Jenkins’ home.

Rene’s sister, Arabruny Lindor, told the Daily Mail that her brother seemed to know there was trouble.
“Friday I called him and he had locked himself in the bathroom and said he had been having trouble with Janoris’ brother and that they had been arguing,” Lindor said. “He was jealous of Janoris’ friendship with my brother.
“I FaceTimed him Monday and he looked worried,” Lindor said of her brother. “I told him to get out of there. He had a real stress on. That was the last time I spoke to my brother.”
Janoris Jenkins and Rene collaborated on a song called “Hood Jumpin'” that was released earlier this year.
Jenkins is entering his third season with the Giants. He was hampered by an ankle injury last season.
